Easternwell flies flags in support of Mates

Easternwell’s field teams proudly supported Mates who teamed up with R U OK? for Fly the Flag Day.

Mates (including Mates in Construction, Mates in Energy and Mates in Mining) is Australia’s leading industry suicide prevention organisation focusing on raising awareness, building capacity, providing help and research. This year Mates had 1,005 sites participate in Fly the Flag.

Employees from 20 Easternwell remote sites participated in Fly the Flag for suicide prevention to remind each other that it’s important to ask your mates ‘are you okay?’.

Easternwell General Manager Kyle Koziol said that supporting Mates’ Fly the Flag Day was a simple and effective way to encourage our field teams to look out for one another.

“A big part of our operations is remote along our town-based operations, so it is important that our crews feel supported and to ask the question if things don’t seem right with one of their mates. We strive to make Easternwell a place where people feel part of a family that look out for one another.”

As a not-for-profit organisation, Mates provides valuable support to those working in the construction, energy and mining industries to connect and protect people from suicide.
