Easternwell supports Indigenous awards

Easternwell supported the Queensland Resources Council Indigenous Awards to promote and celebrate leading practice Indigenous participation achievements in the Queensland resources sector.

Hosted by the Queensland Resources Council, the awards are presented during Reconciliation Week and showcase Indigenous role models and ambassadors from the Queensland resources sector.

As an employer of choice for Indigenous people, Easternwell is committed to increasing Indigenous participation in the Queensland resources sector.

Easternwell is a member of the Queensland Resources Council, and was a sponsor of the Awards night in line with its commitment to increase Indigenous participation in the Resources sector and in the company.

Executive General Manager, Tim Phelan said: “We are committed to pursuing opportunities to engage Indigenous employees through our Indigenous Employment Parity Initiative (IEPI) and elevate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) while advocating the industry as a career choice for Indigenous people.”

“As part of our commitment to increasing Indigenous participation in our supply chain, we have developed a number of relationships with Indigenous subcontractors and suppliers with a plan to increase the procurement of goods and services from Indigenous subcontractors and suppliers to three per cent by 2020 in alignment with the Commonwealth Government’s Indigenous Procurement Policy target.”
