Easternwell supports Central Queensland

Disability Services has been announced as one of the recipients from Central Queensland to receive grant funding from Easternwell, one of Australia’s leading drilling and well servicing company and subsidiary of Transfield Services, in recognition of its ongoing support to the region.

The not-for-profit organisation received $1,000 through the latest round of Easternwell’s community grants program to further strengthen its Emerald Community Garden project - a volunteer-based project which positively impacts people of all ages and abilities.

Disability Services’ Local Area Coordinator, Linda Gibson, said “The Emerald Community Garden is an inclusive peaceful space available to people from all walks of life, ages and abilities. The area is maintained by 20 volunteer gardeners who pride themselves on developing a mini haven where people are encouraged to visit, work alongside each other, learn from each other and socially interact.”

“We are very thankful for Easternwell’s support. The additional funding has allowed us to expand the garden and reward our volunteers with new equipment and tools.”

Easternwell’s Chief Operating Officer, Tim Phelan, said “the grants program was designed to shine a light on the groups and associations that are making a difference in their community, but are in need of a helping hand.

“Easternwell is passionate about supporting the regions where we conduct business and our grants program is one of the ways we are creating lasting benefits for these communities.

“Over the years we have provided grant funding to more than 90 groups throughout Australia which has enabled them to grow their services to benefit the wider community.”

Applications for the Easternwell Community Grants Program are assessed twice a year and must be received before 14 September 2014. Eligible groups may apply for funding up to $2,000.
