Easternwell wins a new contract

Transfield Services subsidiary Easternwell has been awarded a new Drilling Services Agreement with BHP Billiton Iron Ore. The agreement is for the supply of dual rotary drilling services as part of the dewatering drilling programs, which includes the drilling and installation of production and monitoring bores at BHP Billiton Iron Ore’s operations based in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia. The twelve month contract commenced this month.

Current market conditions have given rise to an oversupply in drill rigs. However, Easternwell has continued its successes due to its specialist rig fleet, the introduction of commercial and pricing initiatives that are production and result driven but also due to Easternwell’s capability, current performance and unwavering focus on safety.

Easternwell’s General Manager, Sheldon Burt, said, “We are pleased to have a contract with BHP Billiton Iron Ore which will provide us with the opportunity to build on the excellent work we have completed to date in the Pilbara, allow us to invest further in our equipment and to continue the development our people.”
