Easternwell extends contract with QGC

Transfield Services’ subsidiary, Easternwell, has signed a one-year contract extension for two rigs with natural gas company QGC Pty Limited (QGC). The rigs will continue to provide workover and completion services in the Surat Basin, Queensland.

Easternwell has nine well servicing rigs working to secure upstream supply for QCLNG. The contract is valued at approximately $16 million.

“We have enjoyed a strong working relationship with QGC for the past four years and have successfully worked together to improve the safety and efficiency of our operations in the Surat Basin,” commented Tim Phelan, Easternwell’s Executive General Manager.

“We welcome the opportunity to extend our agreement with QGC and look forward to providing industry leading services.”

Easternwell specialises in providing drilling, well servicing and remote mobile camp management services. The company employs more than 1,100 people and manages more than 60 rigs and 35 remote mobile camps. Easternwell works with some of the largest companies in the resources and energy sectors, including QGC, Santos, Chevron, Arrow Energy, BHP Billiton Iron Ore, Roy Hill Iron Ore and FMG.
