Easternwell supports Toowoomba community

AEIOU Foundation has been announced as one of the four groups in Toowoomba to receive grant funding from Easternwell, one of Australia’s leading drilling and well servicing company and subsidiary of Transfield Services, in recognition of its valued contribution to the region.

Established in 2005, AEIOU Foundation provides a full-time early intervention program for children with autism aged between two and a half and six. The not-for-profit organisation received $1,500 through the latest rounds of Easternwell’s community grants program to further bolster the Foundation’s outdoor play equipment which will assist in developing the gross motor skills of children in the program.

AEIOU Foundation’s Director of Fundraising, Jenni Heenan, said Research shows children with autism have the best chance in life if they have access to best practice early intervention, and our goal is to ensure every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

“Up to 70 per cent of children who complete our two year program transition into mainstream school and 90 per cent communicate functionally. It is an emotional moment to see a child say ‘I love you’ to their parents for the first time.”

Since the launch of the grass-roots initiative in 2011, Easternwell has provided over $28,000 to more than 30 groups in the Toowoomba region

Easternwell’s Chief Operating Officer, Tim Phelan, said “the grants program was designed to shine a light on the groups and associations that are making a difference in their community, but are in need of a helping hand.

“Easternwell is passionate about supporting the regions where we conduct business and our grants program is one of the ways we are creating lasting benefits for these communities.

“Over the years we have provided grant funding to more than 110 groups throughout Australia which has enabled them to grow their services to benefit the wider community.”

Applications for the Easternwell Community Grants Program are assessed twice a year and must be received before 14 September 2014. Eligible groups may apply for funding up to $2,000.
