OIL RIG CONTRACT A GUSHER
Oil giant Santos has awarded Eastern Well Service ( EWS ) the contract to supply workover rigs that are designed to service its Cooper Basin wells. EWS General Manger Warren Willmington said the rigs were designed and manufactured a the company's Taylor Street facility and would replace designs used in oil production for about 30 years. He said the Advantage Series rigs required fewer operators, reducing risks to workers while increasing pumping efficiency. "We've had to make rigs more efficient - instead of taking four hours to shift a rig, we can shift these in an hour" he said. "EWS employed three mechanical engineers to design the rigs. Company representatives traveled to Canada recently to see if EWS rigs were up with the overseas designs. We found ours are way out in front." Mr Willmington said.

EWS Refuses to Rest on its Laurels
Servicing contractors Eastern Well Service enjoyed strong growth over the past year across all its business', reflecting the overall health of the whole energy sector. The Toowoomba based workshop facility expanded into manufacturing and fabrication while it new Eastern Pressure Control ( EPC ) and Eastern Catering Services ( ECS) business showed healthy margins after just one year of operation. Chronologically speaking EPC is only one year old, but its great that we're young. Along with being young comes a vibrant and energetic sense of longevity" managing director Troy Campbell said. Toowoomba's workshop expanded rapidly during 2005 with the increasing demand for new technology and designs and is presently on target to provide new purpose manufactured rigs as well as parts early in 2006. In 2006 the company wants to realise long term goals of no lost time records, no injuries , and to reach levels of engineering excellence and become the largest operation of its nature in Australasia, Campbell said.

Roma's Future
Eastern Well Services owns and operates six rigs along with a Rig Assist Snubbing Unit - a first for the
Australian oil and gas industry.
EWS is proud to be supplying the industry with the largest specialist teams and service personnel in the country.
Eastern has over 175 employees, approximately 20 of which are residents to the Roma area.
We currently have 2 rigs in the Roma district: Rig #2 is a 12 hour operation and rotates 10 rig personnel
and also carries out Rod Repair. It is currently in Spring Gully and has just recently been recognised for
its exemplary safety record having operated for over five years without a major incident. A remarkable achievement.
WESTERN STAR NEWSPAPER Oil & Gas Feature - May 2005
City firm set to save oil industry millions.
An Australian first in oil and gas well servicing technology from Toowoomba based company
Eastern Pressure Control Pty Ltd(EPC) could potentially save the industry millions of dollars.
The company has developed equipment that can service an oil or gas well while it is under full operational pressure.
Mr. Campbell said conventional snubbing was limiting and costly. With the new technology we are able to
successfully workover the well while it is still under pressure and in some cases still in production.

Energy Talks
Do you think it will become the accepted workover method in the industry?
"With wells slowly depleting in reservoir pressure the traditional method of killing a well be fore
working it over will become unacceptable as this causes reservoir damage. Using RASU will become the
standard way to service a well as it causes no damage and keeps production losses to a minimum"
Is it being used in the Industry at the moment?
"Yes, RASUs are currently being used in several different countries, but EPC has developed the first unit
in Australia, which is currently working for Santos in the Cooper Basin, South Australia."

Taking on New Crews
There might be a crippling drought effecting parts of regional Australia, a but employment opportunities abound
in the mining industry In Toowoomba, Eastern Well Service is benefiting from overseas and national contract offers.
The Australian owned company services wells for the on-shore oil and gas industry. It has secured long term contracts
and is currently inducting new crews and personnel. EWS became a technology leader in 2004 with the introduction of its
Rig Assist Snubbing Unit. The long term contracts have brought increased employment prospects to the local community and
attracted workers fro further afield.
"Without professional, reliable and responsible personnel we couldn't provide the
high level of performance that the industry demands"
