Easternwell Drilling Services (EDS), is committed to being a leader in the onshore energy drilling industry. EDS was formed in 2006 due to the increasing number of requests put to Easternwell Management to tender for drilling projects. After progressing some of these enquiries with leading Australian onshore energy companies it was apparent that the relationships forged through Eastern Well Servicing would lead to significant opportunities to develop a drilling division. In the latter part of 2006, Mr. Mike Maguire joined the Easternwell management team as Drilling Manager and was given the scope to pursue several opportunities already in development.
Mike brings to Easternwell complementary skills and background to enable Easternwell Drilling Services to commence activities in the operation and management of drilling rigs. Prior to joining the Easternwell team Mike was the domestic Area Manager for Ensign (formerly OD&E) for over 5 years. With 13 years in the industry Mike brings with his formal drilling qualifications ( an Honours degree in Bachelor of Engineering - Petroleum Engineering from University of NSW):
- operating company experience,
- a background of contractor / client partnershipping with Petroleum Development Oman, and Santos Ltd
- middle-east 2000 HP big rig hands on knowledge
- domestic Australian Rig Management, including long and short term contracts with:
- Santos, Origin Energy, Queensland Gas, Inland Oil, Magellan Petroleum, Mosaic Oil and others
- 800 HP, 600 HP, 400 HP mobile double drilling rigs; 400 HP, 350 HP, 250 HP mobile service rigs
