Easternwell Group and the Energy Industry

 

Easternwell Group is Australia’s largest, privately owned integrated services company offering multiple solutions to the on-shore energy industry.  Established in 1976, Easternwell Group is a family owned and operated business with company headquarters based in Toowoomba, Queensland.

 

Initially established as a well servicing company, in recent years Easternwell has significantly expanded its operations to include Mobile Camps , Catering, Drilling, Engineering, Logistics, Construction, Pressure Control and Technical Services.  Today, Easternwell Group is considered a 'one stop shop' for oil and gas exploration companies.

 

More recently, Easternwell Group has developed lasting relationships with sustainable energy companies.  Following the success of the last twelve months, Easternwell is working on the development of additional rigs to further explore the deep geothermal wells in the Cooper Basin.  We have also moved into the area of ‘clean coal’ by exploring the clean energy of underground carbon sequestration.  The burgeoning clean energy sector promises to be a significant part of Easternwell’s core business in future decades.  We understand the need for more sustainable energy solutions and are committed to reducing our environmental footprint and being a part of the solution for the future.

Easternwell Aviation

Aviation is an integral component of Easternwell Group’s business and its capacity to continue to develop its operations.  In 2004, Easternwell Group seized the opportunity to expand its operations further by developing its own aviation services moving away from the limitations associated with chartering aircraft.  To continue to move the company forward with personnel mobilisation, the company needed the flexibility, reliability and convenience that can only be achieved by owning aircraft. 

 

Easternwell Group own and operate a fleet of Beechcraft Super Kingairs which are mainly used for personnel rotations but also for the transport of urgent parts and for compassionate purposes.  The aircraft currently operate over 10 flights a week, logging approximately 3000 hours a year in supporting our operational sites throughout Australia.  Easternwell also has a Certificate of Approval to legally conduct in-house maintenance on its aircraft in Australia by its full qualified and trained personnel.

Easternwell Environmental

Environmental responsibility is a strong focus for Easternwell Group and the company is constantly striving to develop innovative ways to reduce the impact of its operations on fragile ecosystems.  An example of an environmental innovation is the development of the Septic Processing Unit (SPU™).  This was a major advance in the industry, significantly limiting the environmental footprint in Central Australia’s Cooper & Surat Basins. 

 

The SPU is a relatively compact unit that facilitates the collection and treatment of sewerage on site, thus significantly improving previous sewerage waste management systems.  The SPU minimises negative impact to the environment, minimises risk to personnel required to operate the unit and eliminates the need for excavation therefore minimising the environmental footprint on the site.  Due to major demand for the SPU, Easternwell Group has commenced the supply of units to other organisations, so that they too can contribute to the long term sustainability of the industry.  The SPU is just one example of the innovations developed by Easternwell to lessen the operational impact on the environments in which we operate.

Workplace Health and Safety

Easternwell Group has built an exemplary workplace health and safety record largely due to its sound Health and Safety Management Systems.  The oil and gas industry requires strict adherence to legislation and as the company has evolved, we have been able to build comprehensive workplace health and safety management systems that are often referred to as an industry benchmark.
