This role is a field based opportunity. Applicants must be eligible to work permanently in Australia.

Reporting to the Rig Manager, this entry level position will be responsible for effectively assisting the driller and crew members with daily drilling operations of a land based rig.

Key tasks of the position are:

  • Report all incidents, accidents, near misses and hazards to the driller as per the requirements of the HSE safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties associated with the rig and camp site facilities. This includes but not limited to rig site lunch room, toilets, tool house, vehicles, painting or scrubbing around the rig, and cleaning the rig floor.
  • Ensure that water gotts for each company vehicle and rig are checked and filled with potable water and ice on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that meals or supplies for the day of work are loaded into company vehicles prior to departure each morning.
  • Assist in the rig up upon arrival to, and rig down process upon departure from well site locations as per thedirection of Driller or Rig Manager. Assist rig crew in day to day drilling operations.
  • Comply with all company and client policy and procedures including adherence to all HSE requirements.
  • Perform other manual tasks as per the direction of the Driller

 

Required skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Certificate I in Drilling (Onshore Oil and Gas) or the willingness to undertake this program as part of ongoing skills development processes
  • Mechanical ability and experience in operating plant and equipment is desirable
  • Interest in working outdoors and remote locations
  • Good physical condition, strength and emotional stamina
  • Ability to conduct basic mathematical calculations and measurements
  • Ability to work well under supervision
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and work cohesively with other rig crew members
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, to work within guidelines and procedures, identify problems, and seek advice to resolve issues relating to tasks
  • Ability to acquire and understand quality assurance, HSE, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination practices as applied to the workplace
  • Current C class drivers license
